Used clothes price per kilo: what it depends on
There is no single price for used clothes per kilo. The price of original goods changes during the year and depends on the lot. Ask for a current offer for your volume.
What makes the price higher or lower
- Season: before spring and autumn, demand for seasonal goods goes up.
- Region: containers in towns and in villages give different quality.
- Storage: dry goods in a hall keep their value. Wet goods lose it.
- Shoes and bags: their share changes the value of the lot.
- Volume: a full truck usually costs less per kilo than a small lot.
The market in 2025 and 2026
Since 1 January 2025, EU countries must collect textiles separately. Because of this, more low-quality textiles end up in the containers.
Many collectors in Germany report lower revenues and higher costs. In 2026, for example, the Bavarian Red Cross started to remove clothing containers in Nuremberg. For buyers, the quality of lots now varies more, so check each lot.
Do not compare with prices in classified ads
Prices in classified ads are usually for sorted goods sold in small quantities. Original goods in bulk are a different product with a different price.
